School Values

At Broderick Gillawarna School, we are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school. Our expectations - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be a Learner - guide how we work, learn and care for one another every day. These values shape a welcoming and supportive school environment where every student has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

We are committed to inclusive practice. We work alongside families to understand each student’s strengths and provide adjustments that support their learning and wellbeing. At BGS, every student is known, valued and cared for — and every learner is supported to thrive.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a framework that uses a whole-school approach to improve student behaviour and learning by creating a positive, safe, and supportive culture. Key components include defining clear behavioural expectations, explicitly teaching these behaviours, acknowledging positive actions with reinforcement, and using data to guide interventions and improve systems across different tiers of support. The ultimate goal is to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for all students.
